Alice "Lorraine" Steiner

Alice "Lorraine" Steiner passed away on November 21, 2025, at her daughter, Carol's, house in Urbandale, IA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday December 1, 2025, at Holy Trinity Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. There will be a visitation Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Alice Lorraine DeLanoit was born near Winterset, IA on May 30, 1927, to Peter and Marie. Lorraine and her family moved to Rinard, and then to Badger. Lorraine attended school at Corpus Christi, graduating in 1945. She was united in marriage to James Mahany on August 12, 1945, in San Francisco, CA. The couple established their home in Chicago. They divorced in 1962, and Lorraine moved to Fort Dodge and spent the rest of her life there until moving with her daughter to Des Moines in 2024.

On September 25, 1976, Lorraine was united in marriage to David Steiner. She was employed by Hy-Vee as a checker for more than 20 years retiring in 1985. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Ladies Union, Legion of Mary, several prayer groups and a member of the Saint Mary of Nazareth Church in Des Moines.

Lorriane is survived by her children Carol Webster of Urbandale, Robert "Mo" Mahany of Aurora, CO, James Kevin Mahany of Appleton, WI; 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded by her parents Peter and Marie (Van Steenberge) DeLanoit, Husband David Steiner, infant daughter Ceceilia, brothers Robert, Paul, Clarence, and Walter DeLanoit, sisters Elaine Philips, Mary Louise Hood, and Delores Wolf.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
