Wanda P. Smith

Fort Dodge-Wanda P. Smith, 95, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Gowrie passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Friendship Haven. Funeral services will 1:30 PM Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at United Methodist Church, Gowrie with Pastor Susan Rohden officiating. Burial will be in Gowrie Township Cemetery. A visitation will be noon Tuesday until the start of the service at the church. Palmer Funeral Home Gowrie is in charge of arrangements. Wanda is survived by her children Dana Eugene Smith (Cheryl) of Omaha and Deborah Lee Doyen (David) of Clare; grandchildren Kelly (Jake) Stewart, Kyle Doyen, Kerry Doyen, Austin Smith, and Kaitlyn Smith; 2 great-grandchildren Haley and Ryan Stewart. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Smith in 2008; parents George and Mary (Gower) Rowe; siblings Donald Rowe, Donna Hewitt, Bonnie Sullivan, and Betty Babcock. Wanda Rowe was born May 19, 1927 in Paton, IA. Wanda attended school in Gowrie, graduating from Gowrie High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Eugene Smith on June 10, 1950 at South Marion Methodist Church in Stratford. Once Eugene was discharged from the service in 1955, the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Wanda worked for Jeffords Plumbing & Heating for a number of years. In 1963, the couple relocated to Gowrie. Wanda and Eugene owned and operated Easy Water Care of Gowrie from 1983- 1994. Wanda was a member of the United Methodist Church in Gowrie. She enjoyed bowling and using her artistic abilities in china painting, oil painting, and creating porcelain dolls. The family would like to thank the staff of Terrace View at Friendship Haven for their quality care. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
