Wanda E Clarke

Wanda E. Clarke, 94, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Friendship Haven. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 29th at 1:00 PM at Bass Point Cemetery north of Boone. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. The service will also be livestreamed. Wanda is survived by her children Al (Sandy) Clarke of Ames and Maureen Powers of Fort Dodge, grandchildren Mike Powers of Fort Dodge and Nick (Sabrina) Clarke of Fort Dodge, great-grandchildren Tyson Powers, Wyatt Clarke, Logan Clarke and Tatum Clarke and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Goldie (Albaugh) Steward, husband John E. Clarke in 1978, infant sister Norma Maxine Steward and brothers Neal and Wayne Steward. Wanda Evelyn Steward was born June 30, 1925 in Ankeny, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the Ankeny and Boone area. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1943 and then attended AIB College. On July 18, 1948 Wanda was united in marriage to John E. Clarke. The couple established their home in Boone where Wanda worked at the Fareway Grocery Store Headquarters. In 1959, the couple moved to Fort Dodge to manage a branch of the Cryder Well Company. Wanda was the office manager and bookkeeper until her retirement in 1992. She continued to volunteer and assist with bookkeeping at First Christian Church after her retirement and eventually moved to Friendship Haven in 2007 where she volunteered at the Card Shop for many years. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
