Tracy Ernst

Tracy D. Ernst, 69, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Monday, November 30th, 2020 at Paula J. Baber Hospice Home after a courageous battle with non-hodgkin's lymphoma. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 9th in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation and time of prayer will be on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Survivors include his daughter Kamela (Demetrius) Kyriakou, son Kevin (Cecilia) Johnson, brother Steve Ernst, sisters Lisa Sidwell, Kristi Putman and half-sister Sharon Oliverson. Tracy has two granddaughters Sarah and Rebekah and two grandsons Owen and Trace, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Duane and Lila (Knutson) Ernst and his wife Barbara in 2019. Tracy Duane Ernst was born on November 20, 1951 in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated here and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1970. Tracy excelled at football and continued play at Iowa Central Community College where he graduated with his Associate of Arts Degree. Following his education, he held various jobs including manager of Sound World, sales department at West Wood Ford, then owned and operated Archer Audio Video and Appliance Store. Tracy was currently working in the finance department at Fort Dodge Ford until becoming ill earlier this year. Tracy was the music worship leader at the The Pointe Church. However, his love for making music goes back to high school and his first band "The Chosen Few." Tracy continued performing throughout his life including being part of "The Beaver Creek Band." He also enjoyed a long time collaboration with "Scotty Rockstar." Tracy enjoyed playing golfing, pool, and working on projects around the house. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
