Ruth Grace Cox

Ruth (Ruthie) Grace Cox, 78, of Rutland passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at the Paula Baber Hospice Home. Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2023 at Indian Mound Cemetery south of Humboldt. A visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at LifeGate Fellowship of Humboldt. Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family. Ruth is preceded by her husband Jim Cox, parents Ralph and Ruth (Dowling) Fridolfson, brothers Tom and Randell Fridolfson, and sister-in-law Sharon Fridolfson. She is survived by her daughters Barbara Newport of IA, Deidre Rawlins of NC, Emily Van Der Haegen (Mike Hanson) of AZ, Theresa Collier (Joel) of IA, Wendy Morgan of WI, her son Beau Rawlins (Kelly) of NC, her brother Ron Fridolfson (Traudel) of Iowa, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth was born on February 12, 1945, in Halstad, Minnesota. She was raised and educated in the Humboldt area graduating from Bode High School in 1963 and later attended Aakers Business College. Ruth and her husband Robert (Smokey) Rawlins established their home in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The couple later divorced. She was united in marriage to Jim Cox in 1987 and the couple established their home in Gilmore City. In 1989, they moved to Eden, North Carolina and established their home. Ruth enjoyed traveling with Jim on over the road trucking trips. She also spent many hours sewing, knitting, and crocheting. In 2008, Ruth moved to Rutland, Iowa, where she enjoyed her beautiful garden, flowers, and watching the birds. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
