Mary Margaret Collins

Mary M. Collins, 90, of Fort Dodge passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, December 17, 2018 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and then 10:30 am at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home with a Catholic Daughters of America Rosary at 3:00 pm and a Vigil at 6:00 pm. Mary Margaret McCabe was born April 24, 1928. She grew up on the family farm near Clare and attended country school where she was taught by her sister, Eileen. She graduated from St. Matthews High School and then went to the Fort Dodge Beauty Academy. Mary was a beautician with the Boston Store Beauty Shop for 15 years as well as a homemaker. On October 24, 1959 she was united in marriage to William Collins at Corpus Christi Church. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Mary was a member of the Monican Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America, BeFrienders Ministry and various prayer groups. Through the years, Mary enjoyed serving as a greeter as well volunteering in various activities at Corpus Christi. She also enjoyed socializing with family and friends as well as gardening, reading, and cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents, William E. and Mary (Keleher) McCabe; husband, William Collins in 2016; sister, Eileen Lane; brothers, Leo, Emmett, Larry, Ray, and Maurice McCabe. Mary is survived by her children, Maureen (Mark) Fischer of Richfield, MN, Sharon (Rey) Rosalez of Fort Dodge, Sheila (Brian) Wayson of North Liberty and Sean (Keri) Collins of Johnston; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. The family is grateful for all the wonderful care she received from Unity Point Heath and the Marian Home staff. Memorials may be left to the family's discretion.
