Jim R. Hansch, 70, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2020. Funeral services will be held on Friday January 24th at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Survivors include daughter Jayne (Randy Askvig) Kuhn of Eagle Grove, daughter Jody Hansch of Corpus Christi, TX, father Laurence Hansch of Fort Dodge, step-son David Kelso of Sioux City, step-daughter Angie (Paul Gudbaur) Kelso of Lawrence, KS, step-daughter Jodi (Jason) Woydziak of Ardmore, OK, 3 grandsons, 2 great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, brother Larry Hansch of TX, brother Lane Hansch of Fort Dodge, twin sister Janet (Tim) Wendell of Fort Dodge, sister Mary (Bill) Jones of Carthage, TN. He was preceded in death by his mother Hazel (Musselman) Hansch, wife Maureen Hansch, brothers Gene, Elmer, Gary, Mickey, Virgil and Claude Geopfert. Jimmy R. Hansch was born on June 25, 1949 in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated in Fort Dodge. Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970 and then an additional 2 years in the National Guard. On August 24, 1990, Jim was united in marriage to Maureen Carney the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Jim worked at U.S. Gypsum until retiring in 2011. He is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and life member of the North American Hunting Club and Fishing Club. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
