Howard McCrady Jr, 89, of Fort Dodge passed away Monday, June 14, 2021 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday, June 18, 2021 at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will follow in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the United States Army Honor Guard and the VFW Post 1856. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Howard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Irene; children, Tim (Luz Maria) of Lerdo, Durango, Mexico, Randy (Barb) of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Gina (Tim) Carlson of Overland Park, KS, Tom (Debra) McCrady of Fort Dodge, Scott (Lori) McCrady of Cottage Grove, MN, Chris (Kristi) McCrady of Fort Dodge; and son-in-law, Kurt Heinse of Danberry; 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Sr. and Luetta (Goetsch) McCrady; daughter, Sue Ann Heinse; granddaughter, Stephanie Heinse; and siblings, Walter and Robert McCrady, Donna Smith, and Margaret Mueller. Howard McCrady Jr. was born November 11, 1931 in Livermore, Iowa. He attended schools there and graduated from Livermore High School in 1950. Following his education, he enlisted in the United States Army and received his Honorable discharge in 1954. On April 16, 1955 he was united in marriage to Irene Ayala. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. He worked for USG for 36 years. He was a long time volunteer track and wrestling coach at Hillcrest Elementary School. Howard was a people person. He loved his family and taking care of his wife. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
