Gerald Grove

Gerald "Jerry" G. Grove, 87, of Fort Dodge passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. A Celebration of Jerry's life will be held at a later date. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. Survivors include his wife of 62 years Patricia "Pat" Grove of Fort Dodge, daughters Kim Taff of Omaha, NE, Cindy Holm, Julie Howell and Shelley (Frank) Howell all of Fort Dodge, grandchildren Christopher and Nathan Taff, Jared and Lindsey Holm, Haley and Hayden Howell, Kyle, Kade and Sophia Howell, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Gladys (Eggspuehler) Grove, twin brother James Grove, brothers Roger and Albert Grove, sisters Cedora Streff and Mary Arthur, sons-in-law Gregg Howell and Roland Taff. Gerald was born on September 30, 1932 in Plover, IA. He was raised and educated near Gilmore City. On October 11, 1958 he was united in marriage to Patricia Anderson. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. For over 30 years Jerry worked at Hormel's. He retired when it closed. Racing cars was a big part of his life. Jerry was a part of Grove Brothers Racing Team in 1960's to the 1970's which included his twin brother James Grove, nephew Junior Grove, and longtime friend Duane Lyerly. They won many NHRA, IHRA and AHRA records. The Grove brothers were inducted into the Hall of Fame and Racing Museum in 2018. They still have many racing fans and followers today. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and keeping busy in his garage. He treasured time spent with his friends and family. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
