Gene A. Vogel

Gene A. Vogel, 81, of Otho passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Gene is survived by his wife, Donna Vogel; sons, Donald Vogel (Sharon) of Fort Dodge; Michael Vogel of Otho; Larry (Carla) Vogel of MO; granddaughter, Karen Vogel; grandson, Connor Vogel; great grandson, Bernie; brother, Dean Vogel of Otho; and half-sisters, Shirley Krska of Scottsdale, AZ; and Floann Wills of Urbandale. He was preceded in death by his parents, Seymour and Anna Marie (Rhum) Vogel and half-brother, Jack (John) Vogel. Gene August Vogel was born June 6, 1936, in Fort Dodge. He attended schools in the Fort Dodge and Otho area. Gene was united in marriage to Donna Perry on March 29, 1956, at the Riverside Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. The couple established their home in Otho. Gene worked for Georgia Pacific for 34 years until retiring in 1998. After retiring, he worked for the DART Bus System and Choice Printing until 2005. Gene and Donna had recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
