Dewayne Hinton

Rockwell City Dewayne Hinton 93, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at the United Methodist Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor Dan G. Fernandez officiating. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church until service time. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Dewayne is survived by his wife Helen; daughters, Connie (Bill) Pridgeon of Ben Wheeler, TX and Julie (Bill) Hiler of Rockwell City; two grandchildren, Dr. Stephanie (Justin) Henry of Madrid, and Jeff (Ashley) Hiler of Rockwell City; two great-grandchildren, Eli and Emmett Hiler; and other relatives and friends. Dewayne Hinton was born June 13, 1929, at Lake City. He graduated from Rockwell City High School, with the Class of 1947. On June 19, 1951 he was united in marriage to Helen Baty. Dewayne served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. The couple established their home on the family farm near Sherwood, where they spent their lives farming together. Dewayne retired in 2000 and the couple moved into Rockwell City in 2011. Dewayne was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Rockwell City Lions Club where he enjoyed working with the lunch wagon. Dewayne was a dedicated and loving husband to Helen for 71 years. He deeply loved his family and enjoyed spending summers at the cabin at Twin Lakes.
