Dean Vogel

Dean L. Vogel, 79, of Otho passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the Fort Dodge Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 14th, at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and then at 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery where military rites will be presented by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. A visitation will be Monday, November 13th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Vigil Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. all at Laufersweiler funeral home. Dean is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Mary Hill of Fort Dodge; grandson, Joseph Hill of Fort Dodge; his great grandson, Samuel Dean Hill due in December 2017; sisters, Shirley Krska (Clifford) of Arizona; FloAnn Willis (Patrick) of Des Moines; and sister-in -law, Donna Vogel of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Seymour and Marie (Myers) Vogel; infant children, Odette Ann and Sean Patrick; brothers Jack and Gene Vogel. Dean was born April 30, 1938, in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated in Fort Dodge. From 1957 until 1959, Dean served in the U.S Navy. He was united in marriage to Patricia Good on October 9, 1964, and the couple first established their home in Fort Dodge before moving to Otho in 1973. Dean worked for National Gypsum for 35 years until retiring in 1993. Most recently Dean was confirmed into the Catholic Church as Dean Larry "Joseph" Vogel. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
