Darrell E. Rusher, 80, of Humboldt, passed away on Thursday, September 24 at Crestview Nursing and Rehab in Webster City. Private funeral Mass Monday St. Mary's Humboldt. Public Graveside services will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Humboldt at 11:30 AM Monday with military rites conducted by the Sathers-Odgaard VFW Post 5240. A Public Visitation for friends and family will be held on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home in Fort Dodge. Use of masks and social distancing is encouraged. Survivors include wife Dottie of Humboldt, daughter Denise (Steve) Madson of Omaha and children Cole and Clay, daughter Dena (Cody) Nielsen and children Maddie and Isabel of Humboldt, sister Marilyn (Bill) Eggers of Webster City. He was preceded in death by his parents Mervin and Eva (Jacobson) Rusher, son Danny, infant daughter Danell, sisters Val Klinker and Rita Biondahl. Darrell Eugene Rusher was born on September 14, 1940 in Duncombe. In 1947, the family moved to rural Humboldt. He attended country schools in east Humboldt and later attended Humboldt High School. In 1958, he enlisted with U.S. Army serving till his honorable discharge in 1961. On February 24, 1968 he was united in marriage to Dorothy (Dugan) Thompson and the couple made their home on farm in rural Humboldt north of Badger. For nearly 40 years Darrell was a realtor in the Humboldt area. He also owned and operated the Village Kobbler shoe store for several years in downtown Humboldt. Darrell served on the Humboldt City Council for 19 years. He enjoyed Friday nights with friends, playing cards, golfing, and especially loved time spent with his family. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
