Callender Alfred Duane Klingson 87, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at his home. Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2020 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Callender, with Pastor Greg Stano and Pastor Deb Stano officiating. Private family graveside service will be at the Danish Lutheran Cemetery, west of Callender, with Military Rites by American Legion Peterson Post #431 of Gowrie. Visitation will be after 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at the Church until service time. Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie is serving the family. Alfred is survived by his 4 sons, Kevin (Marcia) Klingson of Fort Dodge, Gary (Lori) Klingson of Glenville, MN, Scott (Patrice) Klingson, and Mark (Kim) Klingson, all of Gowrie; 10 grandchildren, Tyler, Luke, Jenna, Jordan, Logan, John, Justin, Colton, Connor and Caitlyn; 3 great-grandchildren, Presley, Shay, Clay; and special companion, Margaret Woodruff. He was preceded in death by his wife Ardis; parents, Louis and Thora (Johnson) Klingson; sisters, Alice Slotten, LaVonne Bowers, and Doris Danielson; and brothers, LaVerne and Donald Klingson. Alfred Duane Klingson was born September 26, 1932 at Slifer, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the Danish Lutheran Church. He attended Somers High School and started working at Tobins from 1950-1952. Alfred served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was united in marriage to Ardis Dewey on June 19, 1955 and four sons were born to this union. They established their home in Slifer where he farmed until 1968, when they moved to a farm west of Callender, where he lived until his death. Alfred was a deacon, usher, greeter at his church. He belonged to American Legion Post #592 of Callender. He farmed all his life, shelled corn, worked for Automatic Service Center and later Certified Transmission delivering transmissions. Alfred was well known for his corn shelling with his four sons. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and attending all their sporting events. He also enjoyed wintering in Texas and making many friends. He will be deeply missed by all. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
