Joseph “Joe” Laufersweiler

Funeral Director, Owner

joe1Joseph Laufersweiler graduated from Saint Edmond High School in 1970 and then attended Iowa Central Community College. He then graduated from the University of Minnesota’s Mortuary Science Program. After his education, he returned to the funeral home working with his father, Welch Laufersweiler. In 1979, Joe purchased the funeral home from his father and became the fourth generation of Laufersweilers to serve this area. On January 21, 2018, Joe passed away after a sudden illness. He leaves behind a beloved wife, Carol and daughter, Sarah.

 


Mark Laufersweiler

Funeral Director, Owner

GDP40224Mark Laufersweiler, 5th generation owner and funeral director is a 1992 graduate of Saint Edmond High School. He attended Iowa Central Community College and is a graduate of Worsham Mortuary School in Chicago, Illinois.
Mark is a member of Young Professionals, Knights of Columbus Council 613, Holy Trinity Parish, and Noon Sertoma. He is a board member of Webster County Crime Stoppers. He also is an avid sports fan, especially the Hawkeyes. Mark’s greatest enjoyment is his family; his wife, Susan and their children, JT, Griffin, and Josie.

 


Luke Laufersweiler

Funeral Director, Owner

lukeLuke Laufersweiler, 5th generation owner and funeral director, is a 1994 graduate of Saint Edmond High School, a 1998 graduate of Iowa Central Community College and a 1999 graduate of Kansas City Mortuary Science Program.
Luke is a board member of Boys Scouts of America, Knights of Columbus Council 613, and Holy Trinity Parish. Luke’s greatest joy comes from his family; his wife, Abbie, sons Maxx and Ezra, and their three dogs.

 


Susan McDonald

Funeral Director

susanSusan McDonald, funeral director, is a 2007 graduate of Saint Edmond High School, 2010 graduate of Des Moines Area Community College Mortuary Science Program and 2011 graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s in Liberal Studies. Susan enjoys volunteering with the Webster County Horse 4-H Project. With her husband Nick, the couple raise and train horses. They compete in team roping and enjoy traveling. She is a member of Catholic Daughters of America, USTRC and AQHA.

 


Shawn Portz

Pre-Need Consultant

shawnShawn is our Pre-Need consultant. Working with Pre-Need Systems and Homesteaders Life Company, she provides prearranged funeral services for the funeral home. Part-owner of Real Deals Home Decor, she is very active in the Fort Dodge community.
Shawn is an avid Dodger fan and enjoys spending time with her family.
