Ronald H. Huebsch, 87, of Fort Dodge, died on Monday February, 22, 2010, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, February 25th in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 12:00 noon at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be at a later date in Corpus Christi Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where there will be a vigil at 7:00 p.m.
Surviving is his wife, Marlys; sons, Steven and his wife Joni of Cedar Rapids and their children, Katy and Kristen, Robert and his wife Kathy of White Bear Lake, MN and their children, John and Jake; daughter, Rhonda Anderson and her husband Gary of Rosalie, NE and their children, Jeremy and Kalene; brother, James Huebsch of Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lafe and Mary (Mathey) Huebsch; a brother, Robert; sisters, Bettie Nielsen and Maralyn (Dede) Bond.
Ronald H. Huebsch was born May 4, 1922 in Fort Dodge, Iowa where he attended schools, graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1940. Following his education, he served for 3 years in the US Army Medics during WWII, with service in the European Theatre, landing on Utah Beach in Normandy. After VE Day, Ron pitched for the American all-star Fast Pitch Softball Team winning the European and Mediterranean Theatre Operation Championships. On June 10, 1950, Ron was united in marriage to Marlys Willey at Holy Rosary Church and they established their home in Fort Dodge. Ron worked for Mitchell Dental Lab for 47 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, the St Edmond Heritage Society, the American Legion, and a life member of the VFW. Ron pitched fast pitch softball locally for many years, and was a member of the Fort Dodge Softball Hall of Fame. Ron volunteered many years supporting the Boy Scouts and coaching youth baseball. He was an avid outdoorsman spending time with family and friends in the field. He enjoyed many sports including years of bowling, great times on the golf course, and watching events at the local High Schools and Universities.


Memorials may be left to the Fort Dodge Catholic School System or Holy Trinity Parish Foundation.
