Margaret V. (Harrington) Welch, a resident of Davenport passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the Kahl Home in Davenport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 15, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Visitation will be today (Friday, February 12th) from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport where a prayer service will be offered at 3:00 p.m. and then on Monday Her family will greet friends one hour prior to the funeral mass at Corpus Christi Church on Monday.
Margaret Veronica Harrington was born June 25, 1912 in Jackson township, Webster county, Iowa a daughter of Timothy and Mary (Condon) Harrington. She was united in marriage to Thomas S. Welch on October 6, 1951 in the Log Chapel on the University of Notre Dame Campus. He preceded her in death in 1996.

Margaret graduated from Corpus Christi High School in Fort Dodge, she attended Clarke College in Dubuque. She was a kindergarten teacher in Northwest Iowa for many years. She had been involved in many educational, religious and community volunteer activities in the Fort Dodge area. She moved to the Kahl Home in Davenport in May of 2008 to be near her family.

Survivors include her nieces, Sally (Bill) Fischer, Bettendorf, Patricia (David) Jestel, Davenport, Janet (Bob) Hagen, Olathe, KS, Brenda (Art) Nunes, Bellevue, WA, Sheila Harrington (Brendan Boyle) Seattle, WA; her nephews, Dr. Tim (Betty) Kloppenborg, Cincinnati, OH, Dan (Karen) Kloppenborg, Davenport, Martin Harrington, Panama, Kevin Harrington, Panama, Patrick Harrington, Spain, Desmond Harrington, Miami, FL; and 25 great nieces and nephews and many great-great nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her siblings; Sister Brendan Harrington, Hubert Joseph Harrington and Kathryn Kloppenborg. May they rest in peace.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Kahl Home staff, Margaret’s doctors, Staff on 7th floor at Genesis West and Genesis Hospice for the loving care they extended to Margaret.
